School board approves 2026 short session legislative agenda to strengthen public education

The Wake County Board of Education has approved its 2026 North Carolina General Assembly short session legislative agenda, reinforcing its commitment to support strong, effective public schools. This agenda is designed to build on the Board’s previously adopted long-session priorities, creating a clear and consistent approach to advocating for policies that support students, educators, and families across Wake County.

The 2026 short session agenda focuses on making sure public schools have the resources needed to provide every child with a high-quality education. It also includes specific policy updates that can be addressed during the NC General Assembly’s short session. This work builds on last year’s broader priorities and keeps attention on key issues such as fair funding, support for educators, and giving schools the flexibility to meet local needs. Learn more
